Abstract
Characterization of structures of the copolymer of ethylene and tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) in form of powder and of sheets was performed by FTIRS (with sample preparation by KBr disc pressing method and with attenuated total reflection),XRD and XPS in combination. As shown by experimental results,① apparent absorption peaks of -CH2 and -CF2 groups were observed in ETFE powder by FTIRS;② better resolution was found in ETFE sheet as compared with the ETFE powder by XRD;③ consistent contents of the -CH2 and -CF2 groups were found in either the ETFE powder or the ETFE sheets by XPS. Contamination by organosilicons from demouldering agent was encountered with ETFE sheets and higher amounts of adsorptive oxygen were encountered with ETFE powder as shown by FTIRS analysis.
