Head Space-GC-MS Determination of Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Large-Toys

Abstract
Head space-GC-MS was applied to the determination of 7 aromatic hydrocarbons (i.e., benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, o-xylene, m-xylene, p-xylene, naphthalene and anthracene) in large-toys. The equilibrium temperature and time of head space were selected at 90 ℃ for 40 min. The analyte were separated on RTX-5 column and EI source was used in MS. Linear relationships between values of peak area and mass concentration of the 7 aromatic hydrocarbons were kept in definite ranges. Detection limits (3S/N) found were ranged from 0.02 to 0.04 mg·kg-1. Tests for recovery were performed by addition of mixed standard of the 7 aromatic hydrocarbons at 3 concentration levels, results of recovery found were in the range of 90.0%-106.8% with RSD′s (n=7) in the range of 0.3%-5.3%.
