    GC-MS Determination of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Groundwater with Solid Phase Extraction

    • A method of determination of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH′s) in groundwater by GC-MS with solid phase extraction was proposed. The sample was enriched by the ENVI C18 SPE column. The 16 PAH′s were consecutively eluted from the column with 5 mL of acetone and 10 mL of dichloromethane,and the combined eluate was concentrated by K-D concentrator,and the concentrate was used for GC-MS determination. Pure water or tap water were treated by solid phase extraction before using for preparation of standard solutions and standard curves. Detection limits (3S/N) of the 16 PAH′s were all less than 2.0 ng·L-1. The proposed method was applied to the analysis of groundwater samples,giving RSD′s (n=7) less than 14.0%. Values of recovery found by standard addition method were in the range of 84.3%-112.3%.
