Ion Chromatographic Determination of Nitrite and Nitrate in Fruits

An ion chromatographic method for the determination of nitrite and nitrateions in fruits was proposed.Nitrite and Nitrate in sample solution were separated on an anion separation column YSA-8 and eluted with a mobile phase consisted of 4 mmol·L-1 Na2CO3 and 3 mmol·L-1 NaHCO3.The eluate was detected with electroconductivity detector.DL of the method was 0.02 mg·L-1 for Nitrite and 0.11 mg·L-1 for Nitrate,respectively.Linearity of the calibration curve was ranged in 0.2-20.0 mg·L-1 for Nitrite and in 0.3-30.0 mg·L-1 for Nitrate,respectively.The proposed method was applied to the determination of Nitrite and Nitrate in fruit samples giving values of recovery in the range of 93.4%-105.2%.
