    XRFS Determination of Major and Minor Components in Coal Ash

    • Major and minor components (i.e., MnO2, CaO, MgO, Al2O3, MnO, TiO2 and FeO) in coal ash were determined by XRFS. The glassy melt of sample of coal ash was obtained by fusion, and standard working curves were prepared by using CRM′s and mixtures with other CRM′s. Interferences due to matrix effects and overlapping of spectral lines were overcomed by the methods of α-coefficient. Results of 7 components found by the present method were found to check quite well with the certified values. Six glassy melts prepared from a same sample of coal ash and the 7 components were determined by the present method, values of RSD′s found were in the range of 0.11%-5.8%.
