Abstract
Acridine orange was electrochemically polymerized on a bare glassy carbon electrode and the electrochemical behavior of p-benzenediol at this modified electrode was studied. The modified electrode showed an excellent electrocatalytic activity for the electrooxidation of p-benzenediol,making a lowering of its oxidation potentials and an increase of its peak currents. The catalytic peak current of p-benzenediol kept with its concentration good linear relationships in the range of 6.8×10-7-9.6×10-5mol·L-1 and 3.5×10-4-2.1×10-3mol·L-1 under the optimum conditions. The detection limit found was 3×10-7mol·L-1 with an accumulation period of 130 s at 0 V.The modified electrode was used in the determination of p-benzenediol in simulated water samples giving recoveries in the range of 97.3%-103.0%.
