Abstract
The total particulate matters (TPM) in mainstream smoke of cigarettes were trapped by the Cambridge filter and the benzo [α] pyrene collected was extracted with cyclohexane. The benzo [α] pyrene in the extract obtained was purified by passing through HP-5MS capillary pre-column (0.25 mm×1.0 mm, 0.25 μm) to protect chromatographic column and ion source, and separated on HP-5MS capillary column (0.25 mm×30 mm, 0.25 μm) and determined with MS detection. Linear relationship between values of peak area and mass concentration of benzo [α] pyrene was kept in the range of 4-640 ng·L-1. Values of intraday RSD (n=7) and interday (n=5) RSD found were 2.1% and 2.4% respectively. Five samples of cigarette were analyzed by this method, the results of benzo[α]-pyrene found were in consistency with those found by the GB standard method.
