Abstract
In an acetate buffer solution, the electrochemical behavior of 2-picolinic acid at glassy carbon electrode was studied by cyclic voltammetry and linear sweeping voltammetry. Distribution of various forms of dissociation of 2-picolinic acid in media of different pH was confirmed based on numerical fitting; and influences of scanning rate and concentration on electrochemical characteristics were discussed. Besides, the mechanism of the reaction of 2-picolinic acid at glassy carbon electrode was deduced. It was found that the reaction of 2-picolinic acid at glassy carbon electrode was an irreversible reduction process, showing the reduction of the carboxy group attached to the pyridyl ring to aldehyde group through transferring of 2 electrons.
