Solvent Effect of Acetic Acid in ICP-AES

    • Solvent effect of acetic acid on intensity and sensitivity of spectral lines of 7 metal elements (As,Cd,Cr,Cu,Ni,Pb and Zn) in ICP-AES was studied.Intensity of spectral lines of elements mentioned above (with exception of Zn) showed tendency to decrease with the increase of concentration of acetic acid.Changes in sensitivity of spectral lines were related to kind of element, and were not related to the type of spectral lines. As tested in HOAc (4+96) solution, the influence of pressure of nebulization gas to intensity of spectral lines (atomic and ionic) were different with differences of total energy of the spectral lines of element.Changes of spectral line intensity tended to increase at first and to decrease afterwards as the pressure of nebulization gas was increased, and the magnitude of decrease of spectral line intensity was inversely proportional to the total energy of spectral lines of the element. For spectral lines of an element having its total energy greater than 5 eV,magnitude of derease of intensity achieved to 80%.The effect of rate of up-taking of sample solution and the effect of flow-rate of auxilliary gas were also tested and results were given.
