    ICP-AES Determination of 8 Alloying Elements in Stainless Steel

    • An ICP-AES method for the determination of 8 alloying elements, i.e. Cr, Ni, Cu, Mn, P, Si, Mo and Ti in stainless steels was proposed. The sample was dissolved in mixed acid of HNO3-HCl-H2O (1+3+6). Yttrium was chosen as the internal standard, and spectral lines with wavelengths of 357.869, 231.604, 327.396, 257.610, 178.284, 251.611, 202.030, 337.280 nm were selected as analytical lines for the determination of the 8 elements respectively. The proposed method was applied to the analysis of 12 standard reference materials, the results obtained were in conformity with the certified values. Values of RSD′s (n=7) of the 8 elements found were less than 5.5%.
