Determination of Concentration of Solutions by the Compton Scattering Method

Based on the Compton scattering effect of interaction between photons and matters,and on the principle of direct proportionality between the number of Compton scattering photons and the electron density of the scattered matter,a method for the determination of concentration of solution was proposed.Testing installation and procedure for the determination were given.The proposed method was applied to the determination of concentrations of NaOH and KCl solutions.Reasons of the errors aroused were also analyzed.It was shown by the experimental results that the proposed method was feasible.
