Paper Chromatographic Determination of Pigments in Ink of Colour Pen

Paper chromatography was applied to the analysis of colour pen ink of different colors used for colour pens.A mixture of n-butanol,ethanol and water (mixed in the ratio of 10+2+3) was used as developing solvent.Kinds of dyes were identified on the base of values of specific migration and absorption maxima of the colour spots comparing with the pigment references.Quantitative analysis of the pigments was performed by DW-spectrophotometry and 1st derivative spectrophotometry,taking a definite amount (ca.10 mg) of the ink as sample.The proposed method was used in the analysis of inks of different colors of the 323 WP-10 and the 326 WP-10 colour pens.
