Abstract
The electrochemical behavior of hematoxy at glassy carbon electrode was studied by linear scanning voltammetry. In a Britton-Robinson buffer solution of pH 5.0, a sensitive oxidation peak given by hematoxy was observed at 0.28 V (vs.SCE). Linear relationship between values of peak current obtained by linear scanning voltammetry and concentration of hematoxy was kept in the range of 2.24×10-6-1.05×10-4mol·L-1, with detection limit (3S/N) of 7.4×10-7mol·L-1. Values of recovery found by standard addition method were in the range of 95.2%-104.0%. The proposed method has been used in the determination of content of hematoxy in the extract of brazilwood, with values of relative deviation with the results obtained by HPLC in the range of -3.6% to 3.2%.
