Abstract
A method for the determination of trace amount of boron in steel by glow-discharge AES was proposed in this paper.Influential factors,including the preparation of sample,working conditions of instrument and interference of co-exiting elements were studied in detail,and wavelengths of 208.959 nm and 249.326 nm were selected as analytical lines for B and Fe (the internal standard) respectively.Linear relationship between values of spectral line intensity ratios of boron standard to Fe internal standard and mass fraction (in %) of boron was obtained as shown by the linear regression equation of I=4.775 5 w+0.001 843.Detection limit of the method was found to be 4.5×10-5%.The proposed method was applied to the analysis of 11 low alloy steel standard samples,giving RSD′s (n=11) in the range of 3.7%-9.9%.
