Abstract
In5.5×10-3mol·L-1 NaOH medium and heated in a water bath at 70 ℃ for 10 min, the oxidative color-fading of arsenazo(Ⅲ) by potassium periodate was remarkably catalyzed by the presence of rutin. Based on these facts, a catalytic spectrophotometric method for determination of rutin was proposed. The absorption maxima of the catalytic reaction and non-catalytic reaction were found same at the wavelength of 590 nm. Linear relationship between the values of decrease in absorbance (ΔA) and mass concentration of rutin was obtained in the range of 0.03-2.0 mg·L-1. Detection limit (3S/N) found was 0.017 mg·L-1.The present method was used in the analysis of sample of rutin tablets, rutin tablets, giving value of RSD (n=6) of 2.2%. Test for recovery was performed by standard addition method, results of average recovery obtained was 99.3%.
