    Modification of Visual Spectroscopic Determination of Titanium in Aluminum Alloys

    • A modification of the conventional visual spectroscopic analysis of aluminum alloy for its titanium content was made by application of visible spectra digitized analytical system and by computerized automation to transform the analytical spectral lines into digitized electronic spectra and to displace the eye-discrimination of spectral lines by automatic location of visual field and discrimination of spectral lines as conducted by the digitized system.The spectrum of Ti 498.17 nm was used as the analytical line and the spectrum Cu 501.66 nm used as the comparative line.The ratios of intensity found at Ti 498.17 nm to that found at Cu 501.66 nm were found to keep direct proportion with the concentration of titanium in aluminum alloys,and 4 samples with different titanium contents were analyzed by the proposed method.As shown by the experimental results,the modified method bore special features of rapidity,accuracy and automation in rapid determination of titanium in titanium bearing aluminum alloys.It was also feasible for identification of their technical specifications.
