    Fluorophotometric Determination of Trace Amounts of Sulfides in Environmental Water

    • In an ammoniacal buffer medium of pH 9.10,fluorescence produced by the reagent salicylic aldehyde thiosemicarbazone was quenched by the presence of sulfide ion.The magnitude of decrease in fluorescence intensity was found to keep linear relationship with concentration of sulfide ion in the range of 20-440 μg·L-1,with a detection limit(S/N=3) of 6.7 μg·L-1.Base on these facts,a simple,rapid and sensitive method for fluorophotometric determination of sulfide in environmental water samples was proposed and has been applied to the analysis of industrial waste water,tap water and well water.
