    IC Determination of Trace Amounts of Anions in Boiler Water with Sample Introduction of Large Volumes

    • The contents of 8 anions (i.e., F- , CH3COO-, HCOO-, Cl-, NO2-, NO3-, SO42- and PO43-)in boiler water at thermal power plants were determined by ion chromatography with sample introduction of large volumes. The protective column (AG17-C) and separation column (AS17-C) were used for separation, and KOH solution with different concentrations were used as eluent for gradient elution. Inhibitory conductivity detection was adopted in the determination. Linear relationships between values of peak area and mass concentration of the 8 anions were kept in the same range of 5.0-50 μg·L-1, with limits of detection (2S/N) and lower limits of determination (10S/N) in ranges of 0.01-0.11 μg·L-1 and 0.05-0.52 μg·L-1 respectively. The proposed method was applied to the determination of 8 anions in boiler water; values of recovery found by standard addition method were in the range of 97.8%-107%.
