Determination of 24 Elements in Soil by ICP-MS

    • ICP-MS was applied to the determination of 24 elements (Li,Be,B,Al,Mg,Ti,Fe,Mn,As,Se,Sr,Sb,V,Cr,Cu,Zn,Ni,Mo,Co,Cd,Ag,Pb,Ba,Tl) in soil samples.Dynamic reaction cell was used in the experiments and various factors influential to the determination were studied. It was found that by using ammonia as dynamic reaction gas, interference of polyatomic ions was eliminated effectively. The flow-rate of ammonia was tested and optimized. For determination of vanadium, chromium, copper and arsenic, the optimized flow rates of ammonia used were 0.70,0.72,0.30 and 0.30 mL·min-1 respectively.Detection limits of this method for the 24 elements were in the range from 0.005 to 0.1 μg·L-1.The proposed method was used in the analysis of a soil sample, and recovery test was made by standard addition method on the base of this sample, results of recovery were found in the range of 94.0%-104.5% for the 24 elements.
