FAAS DETERMINATION OF CALCIUM AND MAGNESIUM IN GELATIN BY SUSPENSION NEBULIZATION

    • The gelatin sample was prepared as an agar suspansion, through drying, crushing and sieving, and an appropriate amount of Sr2+ was added as releasing agent. The agar suspansion was nebulized and carried into the air-acetylene flame for AAS determination of Ca and Mg.The blank was used as the reference. The amount of the agar added, the chemical interferences, the viscosity matching between the sample solution and the standard solutions, the background absorption interferences, and the detection limits were studied. The analytical results were in good consistency with those detemined by treating the sample with ashing method.Relative errors were less than ±0.9% and the RSD′s were less than 5.2%.The method was simple to operate and accurate.
