Static Headspace-GC-MS Determination of Volatile Components of 4 Species of Peony

    • Volatile components of 4 species of peony were separated and identified by static headspace and GC-MS in hyphenation, and their relative contents (in %) were found by the method of normalization. Totally 30 compounds were identified and determined, and the main compounds found were alcohols, esters, terpenes, ethers, aldehyde and etc.. However, both constituents and contents of volatile compounds in 4 species of peony were significantly different. Leaf alcohol, dodecane, phenylethanol and nerol acetate were the common substances in the 4 species of peony. The component with highest content in Zangzhihong and Hongzhunv was phenylethanol, the contents of which were found to be 54.05% and 49.99% respectively. While the component of highest content in Molouzhenghui and Liyuanhong was found to be neryl acetate, with the contents of 34.07% and 20.06%, respectively.
