Abstract
The composite material of activated carbon with chitosan was prepared and its characteristic of loss in mass during the temperatures from 30 ℃ to 550 ℃ was studied by thermo gravimetry.Adsorptive efficiency of filter tips added separately with the composite mateerial, activated carbon and chitosan towards the volatile aldehydes and ketones as well as other harmful substances,e.g.,tar,nicotine and etc.,in the mainstream of cigarette smoke was tested by HPLC.As shown by the testing results, better adsorption was attained by the filter tips added with the composite material as compared with those added with activated carbon or chitosan separately. In addition, the use of filter tips added with the composite material, also improved the taste and decreased irritation in smoking.
