    Resolution of Enantiomers of Cefadroxil by HPLC using Mobile Phase with Added Chiral Additive

    • Resolution of enantiomers of cefadroxil by HPLC was proposed by using the SinoChrom ODS-BP chromatographic column (4.6 mm×200 mm,5 μm)as stationary phase,and 16 mmol·L-1 hydroxypropyl -β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD) as a chiral agent added to the mobile phase which was a mixture of CH3COH,CH3CN and H2O mixed in the ratio of 10+10+80.Acidity of the mobile phase was controlled at pH 4.93 with a flow-rate of 0.30 mL·min-1.UV detection at the wavelength of 232 nm was adopted for the determination,and volume of sample introducted was 10 μL.It was shown that the two pairs of enantiomers of cefadroxil were successfully separated by the proposed method and values of separation factor achieved were 1.51 and 1.53 respectively.
