    Rapid Determination of Cholesterol in Oil and Fat

    • Samples of vegetable or animal oil or fat were treated with absolute ethanol and aliquots of the solutions obtained were used for HPLC determination of cholesterol contents.Analytical column of SB-C18 (4.6 mm×150 mm) was used as the stationary phase and mixture of methanol and water (95+5) was used as the mobile phase at the rate of 1.0 mL·min-1.UV-detections were made at the wavelength of 208 nm.Detection limit (3S/N) of the method was found to be 2.0 mg·L-1.Recovery was tested and the results obtained were in the range of 96.5%-99.0%.
