Single-sweeping Oscillopolarographic Determination of Ceftazidine in Injections

Single-sweeping oscillopolarography was applied to the determination of ceftazidine (CTZD) in its preparations.In a base solution of 0.10 mol·L-1 H2SO4,a sensitive polarographic reductive peak given by CTZD was observed at the potential -0.96 V (vs.SCE).Linear relationship between values of peak current (Ip) and concentration of CTZD was obtained in the range of 8.0-2.0×103mg·L-1.Detection limit (3S/b) of the method was found to be 3.2 mg·L-1.The proposed method was used in the determination of CTZD in samples of injections,giving results in conformity with the results found by HPLC.Values of RSD′s (n=6) and recovery found were in the ranges of 0.96%-1.31% and 98.7%-102.0% respectively.
