Abstract
It was found that the fluorescence emitted by the reaction system of salicylfluorone (SAF),β-CD and OP,in a phosphate buffer medium of pH 6.4,was quenched by the presence of cupric ion due to the formation of a coordination complex between Cu(Ⅱ) and SAF.Magnitude of decrease in fluorescence intensity (ΔF) was found to keep linear relationship with concentration of cupric ion in the range within 0.24 mg·L-1 of solution, when the fluorescence measurement was made at the wavelengths of (λex) 365 nm and (λem) 523 nm.Based on these facts,a fluorescence quenching fluorospectrophotometric method for determination of trace amounts of copper was proposed, and in its application of determination of trace amounts of copper in tape water, values of average recovery and average RSD′s (n=6) found were 100.6% and 0.24% respectively.
