NIRS Rapid Analysis of Composition and Character of Liquid Propellant

    • An introduction on the application of near infrared spectrometry (NIRS) to the analysis of liquid propellant for contents and character was related in detail. Based on the NIR spectra of propellant samples, signals of characteristic vibration of chemical bonds by hydrogen containing groups,i.e.,C-H,O-H,N-H in mixed amines, and aviation kerosene, and N-H,O-H,P-H,F-H in red-fuming nitric acid, which is added with definite amounts of HF and H3PO4,were obtained. Calibration models of mixed amines,red-fuming nitric acid and aviation kerosene were established by the method of partial least square. Effects of testing conditions of environmental temperature and humidity on analytical results by NIRS were studied. It was proved that the application of NIRS to the analysis of liquid propellant was manifested with its special features of rapidity in analysis, conveniency in operation and less in pollution.
