Abstract
Electrochemical behavior of methyl caffeate at glassy carbon electrode was studied by cyclic voltammetry. In an HOAc-NaOAc buffer solution of pH 4.8,a pair of oxidation and reduction peaks were observed at 0.342 V and 0.331 V (vs.SCE) respectively. The number of electronic transfer was found to be 2,and the number of protons takenpart in the reaction was also 2 in the electrochemical process of methyl caffeate. Linear relationship between values of reduction peak current and concentration of methyl caffeate was found in the range of 1.8×10-7-5.9×10-6mol·L-1,and the detection limit (3S/N) was 1.0×10-7mol·L-1. Test for precision was performed with 3.0×10-6mol·L-1 methyl caffeate solution, and the value of RSD (n=6) found was 2.4%.
