Abstract
Method of 3-dimensional electrode-electrogenerated fenton reagent was used for the treatment of phenol-containing waste water by electrochemical degradation and ultimate destruction of the phenols through the strong oxidation of the hydroxyl free radical.Optimum conditions of the electrolytic process were studied and aliquots of sample solution were taken from the electrolytic bath intermittently for determination of its componental compounds. It was shown that satisfactory clearance rate of phenols was achieved under the following operation conditions: ① voltage: 10 V;② time of electrolysis: 120 min;③ concn.of phenol in the waste water introduced: 200 mg·L-1;④ initial acidity of waste water sample: pH 3;⑤ amount of active carbon added: 200 mg;⑥ distance between the 2 electrode plates: 1 cm;⑦ flow-rate of air introduced: 1.25 L·min-1;⑧ current density: 8 mA·cm-2;⑨ temperature of the reaction: 50 ℃.
