Preparation of Rare Earth Ho Doped TiO2 and Study on Its Photocatalytic Activity on Degradation of Basic Fuchsin

    • Photocatalyts of pure TiO2 and Ho-doped TiO2 nanoparticles were prepared by sol-gel method, and their photocatalytic activity were studied by UV-Vis spectrophotometry using basic fuchsin as indicator. The optimized experimental conditions were found as follow: ① mole fraction of Ho doped: 0.3%; ② mass concentration of basic fuchsin: 20 mg·L-1; ③ temperature: 25 ℃; ④ value of pH of the system: 6.2. Value of discoloring ratio achieved at 20.0% after 4 h under visible light. It was proved that the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 was improved by doping with appropriate amount of Ho.
