Abstract
Chitosan was used as column filling adsorbent and used for column enrichment of Al(Ⅲ) from waste water.Optimum conditions for the adsorption of Al(Ⅲ) on chitosan were studied and the results obtained were as follows: ① acidity of sample solution: pH 5.0;② time of attaining adsorption equilibrium: 4 h;③ static saturated adsorption capacity: 5.26×10-4mg·L-1;④ flow-rate of sample solution passing through the column: 1 mL·min-1;⑤ 1 mol·L-1 H2SO4 as desorbent of Al(Ⅲ) from the column.Desorbed Al(Ⅲ) in dil.H2SO4 was determined photometrically with chromazurol S as color reagent.Test for recovery by standard addition method was performed giving a value of average recovery of 96.7%.
