Speciation Analysis for Trace Elements in Compound Tablets of Root of Salvia Miltiorrhiza by FAAS

    • Various species (including soluble,inorganic,organic,stable,unstable,protein-binding,polysaccharide-binding and organic-binding states) of the bioactive trace elements (i.e.,Fe,Cu,Mn and Zn) in decoction and in solution extracted with simulated gastric acid from the compound tablets of roots of Salvia miltiorrhiza were separated and determined by FAAS. Species of inorganic and organic state were separated on the OasisTM HLB SPE column, and the stable and unstable species were separated on the D401 chelating resin column. The organic binding species i.e. bound mainly with salvianolic acid in the filtrate of the aqueous decoction of the drug was separated by the Amberlite XAD-7 resin column. It was found that higher contents of Zn and Cu were found in the protein binding species;Cu was the main element found in the polysaccharide-binding species;and among the 4 elements in the eluate from Amberlite XAD-7 column, content of Fe was the highest.
