    Comparative Study on the Efficiency of Separation of Cephalosporins with Various New and Rapid Chromatographic Columns

    • Five C18-bonded silica chromatographic columns,i.e.,the ① Halo-C18 column,② Zorbax Eclipse XDB-C18 Column,③ Zorbax SB-C18 Column,④ ACQUIT UPLC BEH-C18 column and ⑤ coupled column of Halo-C18 and Zorbax SB-C18 column were used separately in the separation of 6 cephalosporins with gradient elution and their separation efficiency were studied comparatively.It was found that the separation efficiency of the column ① was significantly higher than that of the columns ② and ③;and that the column efficiency and resolution of the coupled column ⑤ attained to nearly the same levels as those of the column ④,but the column pressure of column ⑤ was only half of the column ④.It was obvious that the coupled column ⑤ could be used instead of the column ④,i.e.,the ACQUIT UPLC BEH-C18 column,to a certain extent in the rapid HPLC analysis of cephalosporins.
