Abstract
An electroluminescent organic compound,namely,1,3-bis(4′-tert-butylphenyl)-(1,3-oxadiazol-5yl)-benzene (which is abbreviated as OXD-7 hereafter),was synthesized, and its structure was characterised by the nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry and infrared spectrometry. The energy levels of the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) and also the luminescent properties of OXD-7 were studied by the UV-VIS absorption spectrometry, fluorescence spectrometry and cyclic voltammetry. The energy level of HOMO was found to be 5.24 eV and the energy level of LUMO to be 1.69 eV. An absorption maxima of OXD-7 was found at 306 nm. When it was excited at 300 nm,wavelength of the emission spectrum was found at 366.6 nm.
