    FAAS Determination of Trace Elements in Various Positions of Plants of Salvia Miltiorrhiza Grown in Zhong-jiang County

    • Twelve trace elements,including Ca,Mg,K,Cu,Zn,Mn,Cr,Co,Ni,Fe,Pb and Cd,in various positions,i.e.roots,stems and leaves,of plants of Salvia Miltiorrhiza,were determined by FAAS.The powdered sample (to pass through screen with bore diameter of 0.30 mm) was digested with HNO3-H2O2 mixed solution and fumed with HClO4.The solution was taken up with conc.HNO3 and used for FAAS determination after diluting to 100 mL in a volumetric flask.Recovery and precision of the method were tested giving results of recovery in the range of 95.2% to 105.3% and values of RSD′s (n=9) less than 3%.As shown by the analytical results,magnitude of total amounts of the 12 elements in various positions of the plants was in the following order: leaves>stems>roots,and both the essential elements (Zn,Fe,Mn and Cu) and harmful elements (Pb and Cd) were found in significant amounts.
