ICP-AES Determination of Aluminum,Zinc,Silicon and Iron in Plating Layer of Colored Al-Zn-Galvanized Steel Sheet

The colored-film of the steel sheet sample with definite size was removed by soaking in hot tri-(2-hydroxyethyl) amine,and the mass of the sample was weighed after washing with butanone and absolute alcohol in succession,and drying.The plating layer was then dissolved from the steel sheet with urotropin-HCl solution (for platings containing 5% of aluminum) or with NaOH solution and H2O2 solution (for platings containing 55% of aluminum).Aluminum,zinc,silicon and iron in the solution were finally determined by ICP-AES.Values of RSD′s (n=10) found for the results of the 4 elements were less than 3%.
