    ICP-AES Determination of Trace Components in Iron Oxide Powder

    • Thirteen components, i.e., SiO2, MnO, P2O5, Al2O3, NiO, CaO, B2O3, Na2O, K2O, TiO2, MgO, CuO and Cr2O3, in trace amounts were determined by ICP-AES. The iron oxide powder sample was dissolved in hydrochloric acid and the solution obtained was used directly for the determination. Matrix interference was compensated by the matrix matching method in preparation of calibration curves. Values of lower limits of determination (10S/N) for the 13 component were found in the range of 7×10-4%-5×10-3%. Values of RSD′s (n=6) found were in the range from 1.7% to 8.5%.
