Abstract
In the determination of nitrogen in carburetants used in steelmaking by thermoconductometry with samplefusion by electroimpulse heating, coal standard samples were used for calibration of Oxygen/Nitrogen Analyzer. It was found that: ① sample of carburetants should be powdered to have size of 0.180 mm in diameter and kept under airdrying; ② in respect to the performance capacity of the analyzer, appropriate amount of sample, as well as the coal standard samples for calibration, were chosen in the range of 3.0-7.0 mg, which was placed into a tin foil capsule for analysis; ③ considering the interference of matrix components, attention to similarity of contents and forms of components between sample and standard sample should be paid, and the coal standard samples were preferred for use in calibration of the analyzer; ④ analytical results of nitrogen in samples of carburetants found by this method were in consistency with those found by the method given in the GB method, and giving values of r and R conforming to the requirements given in the standard.
