APPLICATION OF EXCEL IN ASSESSMENT OF UNCERTAINTY BY LEAST SQUARE METHOD

The use of least square method in the assessment of uncertainty of measurements was proved to be a very complex and tedious work.It was still quite time-comsuming and error-arising even the calculation was assisted by the use of a calculator.It was described in this paper that by the use of the software “Excel” with a computer,especially making fulluse of its function operation,the calculation of least square method in the assessment of uncertainty was much simplified,and the above mentioned problems were effectively solved.It was shown that the results obtained by the use of Excel were in consistency with the results reported in literatures.
