    FI-CL Determination of Benzylpenicillin

    • It was found that in an alkaline medium of 5×10-3mol·L-1 NaNOH solution the intensity of chemiluminescence (CL),produced by the redox reaction between potassium periodate and luminol,was significantly enhanced by the presence of benzylpenicillin,and that the increase of magnitude of the CL intensity was directly proportional to the concentration of benzylpenicillin in the range of 0.01-15.0 mg·L-1,with the detection limit (3σ) 1.0 μg·L-1.Based on these facts and by application of flow-injection technique,a simple and rapid method for determination of benzypenicillin was proposed.Precision of determination was tested by addition of 1.0 mg·L-1 of standard benzylpenicillin solution for 11 determination,and the value of RSD obtained was 1.0%.Recovery test was made by adding standard benzylpenicillin solutions of 3 different concentrations to 3 samples of injections,and the results obtained were in the range of 97.2%-102.0%.
