Abstract
GC-MS method was developed for determination of 10 preservatives in cosmetics. After ultrasonic extraction in methanol, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate andfiltration, the extractive liquid was injected and analyzed by GC-MS. The compounds were separated on Agilent HP-5MS capillary column (30 m×0.25 mm, 0.25 μm) by temperature programming with split injection technique. Linear relationship between values of peak area and mass concentration of preservatives was obtained in the same range of 5.00-100 mg·L-1, and detection limits (3S/N) were in the range of 0.30-0.70 ng. The proposed method was applied to the analysis of cosmetics samples, giving values of recovery measured by standard addition method in the range of 96.5%-105%, and values of RSD′s (n=6) were found in the range of 0.66%-3.2%.
