Abstract
A method of NIRS for the determination of contents of alcohol and moisture in fuel alcohol made from cassava was proposed, in order to determine the quality of the fuel alcohol. Based on the spectral data of samples and by the application of revised partial least square method, the calibration models relating the contents of alcohol and moisture to the respective NIR spectra were established. It was found that the results obtained by the present method were in consistency with those obtained by chemical method. The following parameters were obtained: values of square errors of Cross-Validation and correlation coefficient of the calibration model were 0.110 2 and 0.960 5 for alcohol, 0.014 3 and 0.975 9 for moisture.
